GRAND JUNCTION, CO – Animal and wine lovers, rejoice! The tireless volunteers and staff at Roice-Hurst Humane Society won’t let a pandemic get them down. The 8th Annual “Wine & Whiskers” Gala will still be held this year, but will be even more inclusive by offering an all-virtual option. The gala, which will be held at Two Rivers Winery & Chateau in Grand Junction on July 24, will have appropriate social distancing measures in place, including outdoor seating options, ample spacing between tables indoors, food servers, and mask requirements. Those choosing the virtual option can still enjoy a bottle of wine delivered to their door from Two Rivers so that they can party like it’s 1999, but makeup-free and in their sweats if they so desire.
“Given the precarious health and economic situation facing our community and its pet owners, the community’s support of Wine and Whiskers is more critical than ever for our shelter,” said Roice-Hurst Executive Director Anna Stout in a recent news release about the event. “We are facing an increase in animals surrendered to the shelter, an increase in demand for services like our pet pantry and low-cost clinics, a decrease in adoptions, and a significant decrease in revenues. The gala is one of our biggest fundraisers and your support, whether in person or virtually, will help ensure we can continue providing life-saving services to our valley’s pets.”
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., the silent auction — which will be available online and in person — closes at 8:00 p.m., and the event ends at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 and are available online at www.RHhumanesociety.org/wine-whiskers, by phone at 970-434-7337, or at Roice-Hurst Humane Society (362 28 Road). 100% of all proceeds from the gala will directly benefit pets in need.
