Kathryn Bedell is a Democrat running for Mesa County Commissioner, and on September 2 she’ll have a Progressive Family Meet-n-Greet event online via Zoom at 7pm.
Bedell is a large animal veterinarian and owner of the Roan Creek Ranch. She previously ran a local-foods grocery in downtown Fruita. She’s also an advocate for local foods, sustainable agriculture, cooperative business models, and energy conservation.
The Facebook event for the Meet-n-Greet states that Bedell will “share with us her reasons for running as a County Commissioner,” which include raising wages, keeping public lands public and open to all, and building affordable housing.
Bedell’s focal issues are decidedly progressive, which is atypical for a candidate whose life and work are steeped in the country lifestyle that’s typical of the region. Her candidacy gives Democratic voters an opportunity to elect a candidate who represents both Western Colorado’s culture, and Democratic, progressive values.
Her history in public service includes currently serving on the Colorado Agricultural Commission and formerly on the Garfield County Energy Advisory Board.
Reservations for the Meet-n-Greet event can be made on the Facebook event page:
